Reflections on Love

LOVE – The four letters words, most frequently and commonly used in our daily lives, literally. Expressions like – I love you, I love my dog & I love to eat pizza. The word LOVE is so commonly used, but do we actually know what it really means? The word LOVE has various definitions. The English dictionary itself has a got a few definition of LOVE, one of which, is described as a romantic attraction. Definition number 2 – Of pleasure/enjoyment; I love playing the piano. Now, we know how the dictionary defines love. Let us now look at the Bible to see what God says of love.

The Bible says in John 3:16, “For God SO LOVED the world, that He gave His One and Only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 1 John 4:8 says this- “The one who does not love does not know God, for God is LOVE”. Now, you ask, how does LOVE looks like, how does Jesus looks like? Look at 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrong, love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.” That is the character of LOVE, and that is the very nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says God IS LOVE, and God’s love is displayed most obviously through the sacrifice of Jesus. God’s love is unconditional. His love doesn’t change. Even if we sin, even when we still continue to hurt Him, His love for us remains. Romans 8:35-39 says,. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulations, or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness or peril of sword? Just as it is written, “FOR THEY SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED” But in all these things we overwhelming conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, not life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor power, nor of height, nor depth, nor any other created things, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”.

God loves us, God loves me and God loves you! That’s the whole message of my BLOG, but why do people still struggle with love? You hear people say, “My boyfriend, just ditched me, I’m rejected. No one loves me.” or “My mom doesn’t love me, she’s always criticizing and putting me down.” I had the similar struggle ones. I struggled with loneliness, I faced rejection by parents, by friends, by teachers. Why do people feel this way? I don’t know, but possibly they do not know Jesus that’s why. Look again at the 1 John 4:8. It says, “The one who does not love, does not know God, for God IS LOVE.” The only way to get out of this stigma is a relationship with Jesus, because He loves us. I believe that’s the purpose of the Cross of Jesus – to restore the relationship between man and God. 1 John 4:16-18 says, “And we have come to know and have believed the Love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love, abides in God and God in him. By this, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgement; because as He is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.” So do not fear, because God LOVES US. Fear doesn’t come from God, it comes from the devil. “God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7). The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.” (John 10:10). Hallelujah, for the fact the Jesus came to offer us abundant life – one of love and assurance of His faithfulness forever.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, PRAISE GOD, that you have Jesus. You HAVE love. Love is IN you, because God is love, and God IS IN YOU. So if any one feels discouraged and thinks that no one loves you, stop and think again. GOD LOVES YOU, SO SMILE!!!

God loves you and so do I!!!
